Our History


In 1985, Basinger Auction Service was born. Starting out in the home of Paul and Sandy Basinger, our family-run business quickly grew, and in 1987 we purchased a building in Lowellville, Ohio, and held our auctions there for 2 years. Since then, we have expanded rapidly and have outgrown each facility since then.


In December of 1995, we purchased the old Truck Stops of America in North Lima, Ohio – a 30,000 sq ft building which housed our main office, moving trucks, mobile office vehicles, and storage of items for upcoming auctions. After much remodeling and updating, our 8,000 square foot auction center held many antique and collectible auctions, vehicle auctions, and household auctions. We currently have 3 auction centers that host a variety of different auctions. Our main auction gallery is the former Calla-Mar Manor, located at 9983 Market St., North Lima, OH. We have a secondary location at 10766 Market St., North Lima, which is typically for more tools, lawn/garden items or industrial equipment, but also serves as an overflow location if we have multiple estates that we are settling. Our newest location at 8091 Market St., Boardman, OH (formerly Redlich Transmissions) is yet another venue to display and sell your fine furnishings, vehicles, tools, and more!

We Travel

We’ve traveled coast to coast selling out oriental rug stores. One of our largest grossing 2-day oriental rug auctions was in Philadelphia, PA. With the inside of the store packed with people inside and people standing outside in freezing temperatures bidding through the showroom windows, the sale grossed  $750,000!!!

Our Largest Auction

In December 2004, we conducted our largest grossing rug/furniture auction to date – a 5-day oriental rug and furniture liquidation in Pleasant Hills, CA that grossed $1.3 million. We obtained this auction through recommendations of individuals and businesses that we have worked for in the past.


Still a family run business, we feel it is important to know our customers by name.


Many customers return because we know them on a personal level, and they enjoy the entertainment our auction staff provides during each auction.

In March of 1998 we bought out K.F. Kepner Auctioneers in Hartford, Ohio. We were the first in our area to use computers for auctions. We were the first in our area to start taking credit cards. We were the first in our area to solely concentrate on ONLINE ONLY auctions (which reaches buyers nationwide and globally to bid on your items!)

Still a family run business, we feel it is important to know as many of our customers by name as possible. Many return because we know them on a personal level and they appreciate our well orchestrated auctions.
